2026-27 Coach Requirements (U7)
1. Valid VSC (Police Check) ($0.00 with volunteer letter)
- Go to the OPP website at this link.
- Fill out the online form and include the completed VSC APMHA letter which can be found here.
- A VSC receipt will be emailed to you showing completion of the VSC application process. Save this receipt.
Do this ASAP as it is currently taking 6 weeks for the OPP to process!!!
2. Declare your VSC ($0.00)
- Go to the Ontario Screening Portal and declare your VSC.
- If you just applied for a VSC and are waiting for approval, submit the VSC receipt in the portal.
- If your VSC is still valid, simply declare it through the portal here.
- If you initially declared a VSC receipt and have now received your approved VSC, do the online submission through the portal again with your approved VSC. This will automatically upload it to your Spordle account.

5. Hockey Canada Coach 1 (online)
- Take this course if you have not previous completed the online Coach ½ course – old course that has been replaced with the new

- This is a new course that replaces the old online Coach ½. Coaches ONLY have to take this course if they have not previously taken the online Coach ½ course in previous years. Essentially, if new to coaching, this course is for you.
- At the end of the Hockey Canada Coach 1 online course, you will also be prompted to complete the embedded Hockey Canada Coach 1 - U7 module (a module specifically for coaches coaching U7).
- Coach 1
- Cost is $30.
6. In Person Clinic: Coach 1 : Intro to Coach
- You will need to register for the Coach 1 in-person clinic at the following website… https://register.hockeycanada.ca/clinics
- You can register for whatever date or location suits you best.
- The clinic will consist of 3.5 hours of Class time and 1.5 hours of ice time.
- Note: You must complete the Coach 1 Online course before you are permitted to register for the Coach 1 in-person course (it is a prerequisite).
- Cost varies by the different offerings but it is generally around $175 to $200.

8. Register your position in Spordle and sign the Waivers
- Sign in to your Spordle account and register as a coach under your own profile.
- Complete the waivers as needed
Note: All course costs will be reimbursed by APMHA and receipts can be sent to the Director of Coaching (coaching@apmha.org) when all courses are completed. A reimbursement cheque will be coordinated through the Director of Finance.
