2026-27 Coach Requirements (U7-U9)
1. Valid VSC (Police Check) ($0.00 with volunteer letter)
- Go to the OPP website at this link.
- Fill out the online form and include the completed VSC APMHA letter which can be found here.
- A VSC receipt will be emailed to you showing completion of the VSC application process. Save this receipt.
Do this ASAP as it is currently taking 6 weeks for the OPP to process!!!
2. Declare your VSC ($0.00)
- Go to the Ontario Screening Portal and declare your VSC.
- If you just applied for a VSC and are waiting for approval, submit the VSC receipt in the portal.
- If your VSC is still valid, simply declare it through the portal here.
- If you initially declared a VSC receipt and have now received your approved VSC, do the online submission through the portal again with your approved VSC. This will automatically upload it to your Spordle account.
3. Shift Forward Program (Formerly Respect in Sport for Activity Leaders $30.51)
4. Gender Identity and Expression ($0.00)
5. Coach 1 Pre-Req Hockey Canada Coach 1 ($36.16)
- This is a pre-requisite online course that must be completed before doing the on-ice course.
- Complete the appropriate age module at the end of the course.

6. Coach 1 In-Person Clinic ($175-$225)
- This is an in-person/on-ice clinic that demonstrates skills to aoch U7 and U9.
- This course must be booked according to your schedule and must be completed by mid November.
- **Tip** The sooner your schedule this course the better, they have limited space and if you fail to complete this course, you are ineligible to continue coaching.

8. Register your position in Spordle and sign the Waivers
- Sign in to your Spordle account and register as a coach under your own profile.
- Complete the waivers as needed
Note : There must be a coach at every ice time (practices and games) with a coach 1 certification! The minimum requirement for a coach to be on the ice is the Coach 1 cert.
All course costs will be reimbursed by APMHA and receipts can be sent to me (coaching@apmha.org) when all courses are completed. I will coordinate a reimbursement cheque through the director of finance.
